Performing on stage is nothing new to musical theater actress Mikkie Bradshaw.

From playing supporting roles in different hit Philippine musical productions like The Sound of Music, Rock of Ages, Nine, and Aladdin, to landing on her first lead and title role in Carrie the Musical, Mikkie sure is ready to take the lime light for herself.

Just before closing the Manila run of Carrie, a horror musical based on the 1974 Stephen King novel of the same name, Streamline News got to chat with an excited Mikkie, who's ready for bigger roles and opportunities that will come her way.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Times dives into the whole time-travel love concept with an ending that can leave you grabbing for tissues and not for the reasons you think.
By Maria Joan Paula Dino

Romantic movies are always on the “to watch list” of any person, or any women. Classic favorites like The Lake House, The Time Traveller’s Wife, and Kate and Leopold, can make a lot cry buckets. These films featured the time-travelling aspect that added a whole new dramatic level to these chick flicks leaving, probably a lot of us, breathing a sigh of want and need.

Said to be the sequel of the first movie adaptation of Yasutaka Tsutsui’s Toki o Kakeru Shōjo (The Girl of Leapt Through Time) novel, a story about a girl who accidentally gained the power to travel to time, Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is no exception to this fact.

After it was announced that a new Potterverse movie was in the works, the whole Potterhead community erupted in cheers and gave each other [virtual] pats on their backs, high fives, and a treat to butterbeer for holding out long enough to see another movie series.  But when the celebration died and everybody sobered up, questions about what the movie is all about sprung.

So far, we are aware that J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. will be working together for this project once more and that the new movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is set in the same witchcraft and wizarding world where our beloved wizard boy, Harry Potter, was born.

Now, we’re giving you seven more [horcruxes] facts that will keep you sane until we see this in cinemas!

1.       Rowling the scriptwriter

The internationally acclaimed author of the Harry Potter series will take her talent a notch up as she ventures into scriptwriting for this upcoming project. “All I can say is that it’s great,” Harry Potter producer David Heyman commented in ComingSoon.net about Rowling taking the script into her hands, “Rowling had no need to go back to this universe or world. It's not “Harry Potter” per se, but the world of Harry. She's chosen to do so because she felt a need to tell a story. That she's doing it means that it's going to be very, very special.”

Nightmare is just a dream. But what happens when your worst nightmare becomes real?

Just when you thought you had the scare of your life with Insidious (2011), wait until it becomes worse with its highly anticipated sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2 directed by James Wan (The Conjuring).

The sequel revolves around the haunted Lambert family struggling to continue to live a normal life without the “ghost of the past” surrounding them after the death of Elise Reiner (Lin Shaye), the old woman who can communicate with the dead and other entities, which is still shrouded with mystery. Renai (Rose Byrne) continues to suspect that her husband Josh (Patrick Wilson) killed Elise but police had him cleared of the investigation because of insufficient evidence. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the house of Josh’s mother, Lorraine (Barbara Hershey).

If there’s a word that would perfectly describe hip-hop violinist Lindsey Stirling, it would be “unstoppable”.

No harsh and discouraging comments stopped her from pursuing her passion. No TV-based talent search stopped her from rocketing to fame. And, no tropical storm stopped her from blowing her Filipino fans away with the electrifying tunes she is known to play with her violin.

In her two-night show engagement in Manila at the Ayala malls – one on August 17 at the Greenbelt 3 Park and another at the Alabang Town Center Commerce Mall on August 18 – the 26-year-old American violinist duelled the gloomy weather with her powerful set list, which includes original compositions like “Electric Daisy Violin”, “Transcendance”, “Shadows”, and “Crystallize” – all a perfect fusion of classical, dubstep, and pop beats.

She also performed her rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”, a mash-up of songs from the Phantom of the Opera, and some covers of videogame music like the theme of The Legend of Zelda and Skyrim – much to the pleasure of her gamer fans.

Presented by Fangirlasia, the Alexander Fan Party, which was hosted by Kring Elenzano, was held yesterday, July 27, at the SM Megamall Cinema 4 at around 4 p.m.

Within the confines of the cinema, fans of Alexander (who are called, Xanderettes) were granted the chance to finally see their idol up close.

The White House is on fire!

Just kidding. Tune in to your movie radar with White House Down, an action-packed film that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Directed by Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day), the movie explores the grandeur of the famous White House and a notional view of what happens when power is given to the wrong hands.

Equally gorgeous Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, G.I. Joe Retaliation) comes back on the screen as John Cale, a capitol policeman aspiring to be a secret service agent and is struggling to establish a good relationship with his daughter, Emily. But a sudden explosion while touring the White House occurred, leaving John to do whatever it takes to save his daughter and the president of the United Sates, portrayed as an Obama-like leader by Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), from a heavy armed group of paramilitary invaders who plan to start a nuclear war.

The plot takes on twists and turns as John tries to save the President armed only with guts and survival skills to stay in the game of cat and mouse set in the White House. The movie uses a lot of blood but also has a touch of light scenes as John and the President team up in order to track the invaders.
