After it was announced that a new Potterverse movie was in the works, the whole Potterhead community erupted in cheers and gave each other [virtual] pats on their backs, high fives, and a treat to butterbeer for holding out long enough to see another movie series.  But when the celebration died and everybody sobered up, questions about what the movie is all about sprung.

So far, we are aware that J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. will be working together for this project once more and that the new movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is set in the same witchcraft and wizarding world where our beloved wizard boy, Harry Potter, was born.

Now, we’re giving you seven more [horcruxes] facts that will keep you sane until we see this in cinemas!

1.       Rowling the scriptwriter

The internationally acclaimed author of the Harry Potter series will take her talent a notch up as she ventures into scriptwriting for this upcoming project. “All I can say is that it’s great,” Harry Potter producer David Heyman commented in ComingSoon.net about Rowling taking the script into her hands, “Rowling had no need to go back to this universe or world. It's not “Harry Potter” per se, but the world of Harry. She's chosen to do so because she felt a need to tell a story. That she's doing it means that it's going to be very, very special.”

2.       Based on a book within a book

We first heard of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the first installment of the series, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, as Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s Hogwarts textbook. In 2001, Rowling published a “real” version of the trio’s fictional Hogwarts textbook under the pseudonym, Newt Scamander, the same name of the fictional textbook’s author. The book serves as a guide to the various creatures and beasts found in the movie series. It also gives a deeper insight of the Harry Potter universe, with entries about the history and other magical beings of the wizarding world.

3.       No more Golden Trio

Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s story is over, so we won’t be seeing them in this new movie as far as we are concerned. “I don’t know if any of us will be returning,” Daniel Radcliffe said in an interview with HitFix. But, perhaps maybe we could get a glimpse of Luna Lovegood, who married Scamander’s grandson, who knows?  Other casts of the critically acclaimed series expressed their excitement about the new movie, Matthew Lewis, who played the role of Neville Longbottom, said that he was very excited in learning more stuff that happened around the Harry Potter world and “anything that will show off that world a little more is great.”

4.       “Extension of the Wizarding world”

Many wanted to know if the story of the new guy, Newt Scamander, will be connected to the Harry Potter series but Rowling explained that it will be a completely different story that happened in the same world as Harry Potter’s, so it was not necessary for Harry or any other characters to be present (Although we are quite sure that some of them will be there). “It will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry gets underway.”

5.       Introducing Newt Scamander

Newton Artemis Fido “Newt” Scamander, born in 1897, is a magizoologist (a person who study magical creatures) and the fictional author of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. During his stay in Hogwarts, he was sorted in Hufflepuff (Huff pride!).  His interest in beasts and magical creatures led him to join the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures in the Ministry of Magic after graduating from Hogwarts.  He was also the reason for the creation of the Werewolf Register in 1947. He later became a headmaster in Hogwarts. But as far as the movie is concerned, these are things of the future as it will start in New York and will follow the adventures of the young Newt as he encounters various beasts and creatures of the wizarding world.

6.       New York Wizarding world

Yes, potterheads, we won’t be staying in the home we grew up in this time. As far as we know, the movie will start in New York City with the young man, Newt Scamander, probably who just finished his school in Hogwarts and is off to the greatest adventure of his life in search for all the creatures and beasts he could find all around the wizarding world. This change of setting is a welcome change as we have already spent seven books and eight films centered in Scotland and England. Let’s just always remember that Hogwarts will always be there to welcome us home.

7.       More Pottermore, anyone?

As expected and as great news to all potterhead gamers, Warner Bros. will also release video games and other exciting Fantastic Beasts merchandise that are worth looking forward to. Rowling is also expressing her hopes of creating a virtual world for this new movie, same as the Pottermore website she created for the Harry Potter series.
