Nightmare is just a dream. But what happens when your worst nightmare becomes real?

Just when you thought you had the scare of your life with Insidious (2011), wait until it becomes worse with its highly anticipated sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2 directed by James Wan (The Conjuring).

The sequel revolves around the haunted Lambert family struggling to continue to live a normal life without the “ghost of the past” surrounding them after the death of Elise Reiner (Lin Shaye), the old woman who can communicate with the dead and other entities, which is still shrouded with mystery. Renai (Rose Byrne) continues to suspect that her husband Josh (Patrick Wilson) killed Elise but police had him cleared of the investigation because of insufficient evidence. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the house of Josh’s mother, Lorraine (Barbara Hershey).

Everyone thought the terror had stopped until the woman dressed in gothic white clothing appears to haunt them again this time with a sinister intent of killing them all by possessing Josh’s body. The nightmare had just began and the secrets continue to unravel itself with the help of two ghost-hunter buddies, Tucker ( Angus Samson) and Specs (Leigh Whannel) and a longtime friend of Elise named Carl (Steve Coulter), a talented clairvoyant and psychic who had first treated Josh’s case when he was still a kid before passing it on to Elise. Full with twists and turns, and pulse-pounding scenes, the story digs deep to the past becoming the key for ending fear and terror surrounding the family.

Insidious Chapter 2 delivers a thrilling tale of intrigue, mystery and downright suspense leaving you screaming and hiding for a safe place to hide. The scenes provide an unnerving aura and unease with space crafted by dark-lit walls and dim lighting. Think horror flicks like The Conjuring, Saw and Amityville all rolled into one. This sequel proves to be consistent with its predecessor and it sure won’t disappoint in scaring and keeping your pulse faster than you ever imagined.

Overall, this is a good film to watch if you’re into scare-fest this September. Catch Insidious Chapter 2 now showing in cinemas nationwide.
