Ms Rowling may have long put her quill and parchment to rest, but the magic she started 15 years ago lives on in the hearts of millions and millions of Harry Potter fans a.k.a. “Potterheads” around the world.

In celebration of Harry Potter’s 15th anniversary, Scholastic unveiled seven new covers of the well-loved series, which went on sale in trade paperback on the 27th of August this year.

The revamped covers were illustrated by New York Times best-selling author and Eisner Award-nominated artist Kazu Kibuishi, who is best known for the on-going Amulet series of graphic novels.

On the 15th of September, Scholastic Philippines, in partnership with National Bookstore and Hogwarts Philippines, officially launched the 15th anniversary covers of the Harry Potter series at the SMX Convention Center.

The affair was attended by die-hard Pinoy Potterheads – young and old – a number, even came clad in their favorite Harry Potter-inspired shirt or complete Hogwarts uniform.

Tons of prizes, which included posters, shirts, wand-pens, and boxed sets of the new covers, also awaited the winners of raffle rounds and mind-boggling games.

So much for a celebration, the event ended with a simple snack (a Harry Potter-themed cake generously sliced and distributed among the fans) just before lunch time.
