The De La Salle University Green Archers secured the second spot with twice-to-beat advantage coming to the semi-finals as they drubbed the gritty Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 74-69, in the UAAP Season 76 Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena today.

Taft-based squad leaned to their hot three-point shooting at the first half to build a commanding lead, 37-27. Archers drained eight treys at the first 20 minutes of action, three of which came from L.A. Revilla.
 
Jason Perkins nailed a fade away basket in the 3:54 mark of the third period to establish a 15-point advantage against the Tamaraws, 53-38. However, FEU tried to tighten the match dropping a 9-0 blitz capped by Anthony Hargrove’s fast break completion to cut the lead to six, 49-55.

DLSU, which swept the second round, started the last quarter opening a 6-0 salvo but Gryann Mendoza answered with two triples, 59-66. Roger Pogoy banked a baseline jumper with 79 seconds left to put the Morayta-based team within five, 63-68.

Revilla, then, fired another big three that sealed the deal for the Archers, 71-63, and clinched the last bonus advantage for the Final Four battle.

Revilla scored 20 points, 6 of 11 in the rainbow territory, while Perkins and Teng conspired for 27 markers to carry the team into its eight straight victory.

Meanwhile, league’s MVP Terrence Romeo registered game-high 22 productions, 5 of 21 in the field. RR Garcia added 16 of his own with eight boards for the losing effort. 

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday with La Salle holding a game edge for their semi-finals match.
